چکیده
Abstract We present a kinematic slip model of the 8 July 2021 Antelope Valley earthquake from finite-source inversion based on regional seismic waveforms and static offsets Global Positioning System (GPS) Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR). Seismic are employed at 6 s dominant period out to 100 km epicenter, combined GPS InSAR datasets cover near field far ∼100 constrain overall rupture size. The aftershock pattern defines nearly north-striking, 50° east-dipping fault plane. find unilateral along this plane propagating southward updip with predominantly normal up ∼1.5 m. estimated moment 8.47×1017 N·m is equivalent Mw 5.92. A that retains but omits range changes yields 1.08×1018 (Mw 5.99). Despite vigorous activity between 10 Earth’s surface, coseismic concentrated in depth interval 7–10 km.

The 1999 M w 7 . 1 Hector Mine , California , Earthquake Sequence : Complex Conjugate Strike - Slip Faulting
The 1999 Mw 7.1 Hector Mine mainshock showed right-lateral strikeslip faulting, with an initial strike of N6 W and vertical dip. The mainshock was preceded within 20 hours by 18 recorded foreshocks of 1.5 M 3.8 within a few kilometers distance of the mainshock hypocenter. The aftershocks delineate how the Hector Mine earthquake ruptured with strike N6 W to the south for a distance of 15 km, and...
متن کاملDetermination of long-term slip rates of faults in the eastern part of Iran plateau using finite element kinematic model
Since Iran plateau is located in the Alpine-Himalayan Orogenic belt, it is recognized as a region with a high seismic risk. Thus, investigation of geodynamic activities of the faults, their slip rates and corresponding deformation fields is very important for quantification of possible seismic risk in this region. The aim of this study is to analyze the tectonic features of eastern part of Iran...
متن کاملHolocene slip rates along the Owens Valley fault, California: Implications for the recent evolution of the Eastern California Shear Zone
One of the largest historical earthquakes in California occurred in 1872 along the Owens Valley fault located along the western margin of the Eastern California Shear Zone. New paleoseismic and optically stimulated luminescence data are the first to bracket the timing of the pre-1872 rupture to between 3.3 6 0.3 and 3.8 6 0.3 ka. These data yield an earthquake recurrence interval between 4100 a...
متن کاملComplementary slip distributions of the largest earthquakes in the 2012 Brawley swarm, Imperial Valley, California
[1] We investigate the finite rupture processes of twoM> 5 earthquakes in the 2012 Brawley swarm by joint inversion of nearby strong motion and high-rate GPS data. Waveform inversions up to 3 Hz were made possible by using a small event (Mw3.9) for path calibration of the velocity structure. Our results indicate that the first (Mw5.3) event ruptured a strong, concentrated asperity with offsets ...
متن کاملDescription of the 1999 Hector Mine , California , Earthquake , Part II : Complexity of Slip History
We present a rupture model of the Hector Mine earthquake (M 7.1), determined from the joint inversion of strong-motion records, P and SH teleseismic body waves, Global Positioning System (GPS) displacement vectors, and measured surface offset. We solve for variable local slip, rake angle, rise time, and rupture velocity of a finite-fault model involving multiple segments. The inversion methodol...
